Winning A Battle, Losing The War

Winning A Battle, Losing The War by Kings Of Convenience Tabbed by Simon Bance, 2007, 2008 Tuning: EADGAE (no capo) This was the first KOC tab I tried to do all those years ago in 2001. Nice memories.... But all this time I knew that something wasn't right with it. I had tried everything but my best version simply didn't seem correct. I mean, it sounded perfect and all the notes were spot on but it was just way too hard to play and my version needed a capo, whereas Eirik doesn't use one. I knew that one day I would come back to it. It is all work in progress. And luckily I saw a video of KOC playing this today, and now I've got it. It's all about the tuning, of course. So, here is the final(?) version of Winning A Battle Losing The War. I hope you like it! :) Simon, 19th September 2007. Also, 3rd August 2008. I would like to point out that this is how Eirik plays the song, but he plays with Erlend. If you would like to have those extra lower notes for the section "The sun sets on the war, ....." then you can play my earlier version (if you are solo) or you can have a second guitar play some chords and fill in the lower notes. ***Eirik's part*** Once you know these simple figures you can play the whole lot! Toxic Girl

Toxic Girl - Kings Of Convenience Tabbed by Simon Bance, Nov 2004 (finally!) First the rhythm guitar part (Eirik). Now I think I should explain that he is using the old technique of picking the bass note with his thumb and then flicking the rest of the chords with his index finger in an up-down motion. The fact that there are two or three chords after the bass note in the pattern is not necessarily 100% corect as it changes, and any guitarist will be able to decide for themselves what is best. Weight of My Words - Kings Of Convenience Tabbed by Simon Bance, July 2001 Tuning; Standard I will be using the letters to symbolize the higher frets; x=10 y=11 z=12 |--z---z---z-----|--0---0---0-----| |z---z--z----z---|9---9--9----9---| |-z---z---z---z--|-8---8---8---8--| |---x-------x----|---9-------9----| |0------0------0-|-------7--------| |----------------|0---------------| Hmmmmm, where have we seen that chord shape before?
